During his time at Mayer Brown Jay Johnson has
worked on several appeals in state and federal courts. He
has worked on amicus briefs on the issue of excessive punitive
damages. Jay has also drafted various legal briefs at the
trial court level, including briefs seeking summary judgment
and the denial of class certification.
Jay received his J.D. from the University of Virginia
School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the
Coif. While at Virginia, he was a member of the Law Review
and Articles Development Editor of the Journal of Law
& Politics. After law school, Jay clerked for Judge David A.
Nelson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth
Circuit. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics
from Vanderbilt University.
