Mike Lackey has briefed numerous cases in the Supreme
Court of the United States -- including coauthoring the merits briefs in the landmark case Kumho Tire Co. v. Carmichael, 526 U.S. 137 (1998) -- in addition to many federal and state appeals. He has worked with the National Association of Attorneys General ("NAAG") in preparing advocates for arguments before the Supreme Court. He has also spoken at various conferences about important cases pending before the Court and has been a guest commentator on Court TV's
"Supreme Court Watch with Fred Graham."
Mike teaches advanced appellate advocacy at the George
Washington University Law School and in 2000 received its
Bender Award, the highest award bestowed on an adjunct
professor. He clerked for Judge Jacques L. Wiener, Jr. of the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Prior to
his appellate clerkship, Mike received his law degree with
High Honors from the George Washington School of Law,
where he was Order of the Coif, a member of the Moot Court
Board, and an Articles Editor of The George Washington
Law Review. Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree in
Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
