Kathryn Oberly, since January 2009 a judge on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, was a partner in the Firm's appellate group from 1986-1991. Along with Ken Geller and Andrew Frey, she established the practice group's presence in the Firm's Washington, D.C. office. Before joining the Firm, she served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General. In 1991, she joined Ernst & Young as a partner and as Associate General Counsel. Between 1994 and her appointment to the bench, Kathryn was Vice Chair and General Counsel of Ernst & Young LLP. In 1998 she was named by the National Law Journal as one of the 50 most influential women lawyers in the United States. Before assuming the bench, Kay argued 14 cases in the Supreme Court of the United States.
