Tai Lui Tan joined Mayer Brown in December 2005, following a clerkship with Judge Diane P. Wood of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. At Mayer Brown, Tai Lui has worked on a variety of appeals in federal and state courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. She has authored briefs focusing on bankruptcy law, intellectual property, and punitive and other non-economic damages.

Tai Lui received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was an editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She received her B.A. magna cum laude from Cornell University in Economics and Comparative Literature. After college, Tai Lui was a member of the research team for the World Bank's Policy Research Report on Gender and Development. She presented the report's findings to the National Assembly of Thailand and was a World Bank delegate to the United Nations Beijing +5 Conference on Women.
