In re Sears, Roebuck and Co. Front-Loading Washer Products Liability Litigation (Seventh Circuit)

The district court awarded plaintiffs’ attorneys $4.8 million in fees after our clients entered into a settlement that provided class members with at most $900,000 in benefits. We successfully challenged that fee award on appeal. Agreeing with us that the district court should not have awarded class counsel 75% above the product of their hours and rates, the Seventh Circuit reduced the fee award by more than $2 million.
